Gavin’s photographs will be familiar to any one who has seen his online blog site The Smell of water. He often takes infra-red or high contrast black and white images, which capture aspects of the landscape and skyscape beyond the natural (supra-natural?).

Tony’s artwork has a similar effect, as his paintings of the standing stones on the local moors are set in brooding landscapes, with some looking like megaliths on an alien planet. Having visited some of these standing stones, it was quite thought provoking to see them viewed in a different light.

I asked a lady who was also looking around the exhibition if she had a favourite painting, and she said  she particularly liked those with birds, as they had the contrast of animate and inanimate nature. She also said she would buy one if she had the money – but it seems that times are hard for both artists and the public.

Once a small exhibition like this is over, there are often very few records of it, so hopefully this blog page will preserve a flavour of the event.
